Sunday Scribblings

Written for and posted to Sunday Scribblings.

HOW’S ABOUT YOU?

The only headache that I’ve got right now is you…

You smash your thoughts into my brain

It’s rainin’ thoughts of sorts I can’t control

Inside my swede, my padded cell was never like this hell

Well every time I hear you yell it wakes me from the coma and

the coffee cup aroma of your breath makes me wanna puke all over you

what can I do?

The only headache that I’ve got right now is you…

Alchemy would be fine for turning water into wine

And every time that I write something new, you steal the tune

You play it on your radio, and I don’t know which way to go

It’s tough being a genius they tell me but hell what do they know?

Don’t call me – ’cos I won’t come running, baby I’ve got better things to do

How’s about you?

The only headache that I’ve got right now is you…

You’re a pain in my Jackson Pollack’s and beyond

There ain’t no magic stick that I can wand – please tell me that

you’re leaving in the morning, ‘cos another day like this is much too much

and such an’ such and all those clichés that you proffer like the trooper

that they all think you are. Why don’t you disappear and make me happy?

Which way to go?

The only headache that I’ve got right now is you…

You force me to surrender my best line, time after time.

And just when I think you’re leaving, you deceive me once again.

You twist everything I say, tie me in knots, lock me up and throw the key away.

And even if I think I’m doing fine you bug me and you mug me over.

So now’s the time, your chance to cheapskate sour grapes and make fine wine.

NaPoWriMo 2010
Okay it's nearly April and that means NaPoWriMo which stands for National Poetry Writing Month. The idea is to write a poem for each day of April. I will be writing one each day on this blog, and posting it to my SweetTalkingGuy bloggage. You can find out more about NaPoWriMo and how you can participate by clinking~the~link to Maureen's site.
IN THE MEANTIME
While you're waiting for this years poem's you can of course check out last years entries. Mine are all listed in the side-bar on SweetTalkingGuy with clickable links to each day. Then again, if you've already read them, you'll find a new one below that I only wrote today. I've thrown in a few Geordie words for good measure, please let me know if you like it.

SKINNY DIPPIN'
I'm gannin down to Whitley Bay
To my hinney in her pink pinny.
We'll climb the light-hoose every day
and live on Fish 'n' Chips.
Me North Sea skinny dippin' hinney
she'll flash her bits to passin' ships
and the Limey sailors on the briney
will toss their caps an' shout 'Cor Blimey!'

Acrostic???

The whole blogging poetry world seems to have gone Acrostic mad of late. Even I who knows zilch about the form, have given in and written one for a competition, (I'll post it on this blog after the winner has been announced). In the meantime I'll leave you with the only other acrostic that I can find on my bloggage - but I'll warn you now before you read it, that last time I posted it, nobody even noticed that it was an acrostic!
COMPETITION
Your challenge is to write an acrostic inspired by the word "wonder." It can be up to 250 words in length. Creativity and cleverness are important. For the prize details and more about acrostics, visit the contest page.
All entries must be received between 12:01AM EST March 1, 2010 and 11:59PM EST on April 30, 2010, the contest deadline. Limit one entry per person. Keep it short but sweet - no more than a title (25 words or less) and up to 250 words. (There is no minimum word count.) Judging will be done by Gotham Writers' Workshop staff. Winners will be notified by email no later than May 30, 2010. The decision of the judges is final.
Get more information and submit your entry at:

HERE'S MY PREVIOUS ATTEMPT :

ORGANIC POETRY
Organic poetry sounds good to me!
Rhymes but it doesn’t have to don’t you know?
Ghazal, I only tried it once to see...
Acrostic? No not me, I’m much too slow.
Narrative not necessarily free.
Iambic pentameter starts to crow,
Cinquain has two four six eight two to show.
Poetry is much too complicated.
Ode in olden days, she’s set in her ways!
Elegy is no allergy dated,
Tanka haiku, thank you, which way you say?
Renga, Jenga, they all fall down, hated.
Yazoo and Gibbo and all the gang, hey!
